A very powerful yet subdued farewell to Oracle by Phil Noto.  Don’t worry, Babs.  DC couldn’t keep Bruce Wayne dead for more than 12 months, I’m sure your journey will be just as quick.  Though… probably a little more painful.

Oracle 1989-2011 - My first job in comics was creating covers for DC’s Birds of Prey and and over the the course of 24 issues I drew this lovely lady a lot. And then I did some brief interior work on the Cassandra Cain Batgirl and finally did the first run of covers for the Stephanie Brown incarnation. They’ve all been great Batgirls much like Steed’s partners in the Avengers. I’ve done numerous pieces of Babs as Batgirl more so for the retro iconography and the aesthetic look of the black, yellow and red then her actual persona as Batgirl. Honestly in terms of fictional characters, I always just considered her to be Oracle. I, like many others, am very sad her to see her go, but if there’s anyone to keep her spirit alive as Batgirl once again, Gail Simone is the one to do it.

I’m sure someone is supposed to feel guilty about thus but I can’t figure out who.

Picked up a Palm Pixi+ during one of those DailySteals where it was heavily marked down to use as a junk phone in case something happens to my Droid.  I have to say, though, I like the design aesthetic.  Given the availability of the touchstone inductive charger and the free hotspot ability (thanks to Verizon singling out this phone for the feature), I might just use this phone for a few weeks to see how much it really matters to me.

I mean, sure, Android has the apps and the versatility, but 99% of the time, all I use it for is reading Facebook, listening to podcasts, and occasionally Google maps.  I can do those things on any phone (or on my Tablet, which is also Android).  The convenience of no wires charging seems like a tipping point in favor of Palm, considering there aren’t any Android phones currently that have the option (there are a few iPhones with the ability though, which is another option for me).

I hate to give up my nerd cred, but iPhone is looking more and more like the option that fits best with my life.  If only it had a physical keyboard.

Oh!  That reminds me.  The Palm Pixi has a physical keyboard, but it’s located beneath the main screen, Blackberry style.  This is a good idea, but the Palm Pixi is too small and the keyboard is kinda a pain to use.  They keys are also rubberized, for easier use, I imagine, but I keep getting my fingers stuck on them.  Not ideal.

It’s still a pretty phone, though.

How to make money

This is a facinating read from a man who started early making money and didn’t bother slowing down. I’m impressed.

Kind of hard to choose a look in tumblr when half of your blog is being obscured by the menu to pick a theme.  This is going to take more time than I had anticipated.

I have the attention span of gnat.

I’ve wanted to write a novel since I was in the 2nd grade and published my first book, a illustrated tale called “Kevin and Adam’s Adventures in Nintendoland.”  I think it was about twelve pages long and contained a hundred words.

I’m turning 30 this year and I’ve not published anything.  Well, I self published a comic book and sold it at Anime Central 2006, but that doesn’t really count. I only sold about 15 copies to strangers.

The point is, in my most recent effort, I’ve written 22k words of a novel set in my Never-Forever comic universe.  It’s going along well, I think, and I have some real interest in finishing it.

But, on Thursday a couple Sailor Moon NA Dub songs came up on my iPod and now I just wasted a weekend writing a Kim Possible / Sailor Moon crossover fanfic.  4k words in about five hours.

I am destined never to be published and it’s all my own fault.

Not sure what I’m tired of exactly, but if I were to Web 2.0 this feeling, I’d say I’m tired of constantly feeling like I have to turn my name into a brand on the internet.  I have a website, with a blog, a dead comic, (two of them, actually,) a deviantArt account, a FanFiction.net account, a twitter feed, a facebook page, and a plex of Google applications (is that what a group of Google apps are called?  Meh, whatever, I’m going to use it).  I post to none of these things on a consistent basis because I have an ever shifting series of rules I use to determine what is ‘appropriate’ for each site or each group.

Well, fuck that.  I’m tired.  So, here is tumblr, where I will restrict from posting nothing, and embrace the fact that I spent a lot of time on the internet, and I like a large number of retarded things.  I also won’t be hesitating to admit that I am a huge nerd and spend too much time knowing too much about everything I can.  I am just as proud of my ability to recite the entire script of Disney’s Aladdin movie as I am about my general understanding of Physics and Chemistry.  I am also just as proud of my ignorance of whatever Lady Gaga is doing as I am about whoever the hell the Cincinnati Bengals are playing.

Finally, I am politically inactive, but I have a loud and self-affirmed opinion on how the world should work.  In brief, if you’ve picked a ‘party’, then I have no respect for you.

Lets see where this takes us.
